Strawberry Shortcake

You can double this recipe if you want to make a stacked shortcake. This recipe is more cakey than flakey if you use butter.

Based off of Taste of Home's recipe.

Ingredients

Cake

1.5 cup flour
2tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
2/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup fat (butter, lard, shortening)
1/2 cup milk
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract

Strawberries

2lb strawberries (cleaned, hulled, quartered)
1/2 cup sugar

Whipped Cream

2 cup heavy cream
2 TBS powdered sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
